Scalp micropigmentation or SMP is a procedure for men and women designed to treat the signs of hair loss, thinning hair, alopecia, transplant scarring and hairline recession. During the session, a licensed specialist uses tiny needles to deposit scalp pigmentation that matches your natural hair color into the scalp, giving the illusion of thicker, healthier hair. You can also think of this as hair tattooing. SMP is a noninvasive, non-surgical hair loss solution for hair loss or thin hair.
Our SMP artist first applies a numbing agent to the scalp to make the scalp micropigmentation treatment as comfortable as possible. The practitioner then spends two to five hours using an electronic hair tattoo device to apply tiny dots of cosmetic pigmentation directly into the skin of the scalp. The dots are placed in layers and may be of slightly different shades to produce a natural appearance that blends in with your existing hair.
Micro scalp pigmentation can be used on men and women to visually extend your hairline to make up for receding or thinning areas. It can also be used as scar camouflage to give the illusion of hair growing where hair transplantation scarring has occurred. In areas with thinning hair, micropigment deposited between natural hair follicles gives the appearance of fuller hair. After the treatment is complete the general appearance resembles close-cut hair.
Because it is noninvasive, there's no real recovery time required after hair micropigmentation. Your head may feel slightly sensitive or you may notice some redness for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure, but you can return to most regular activities, including work, right away. If you're scheduling another micropigmentation session, you should wait about five to seven days between sessions so any redness recedes completely and the pigment has time to settle in before the next application.
You should avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms and excessive sun exposure during the month after treatment. During the first five days after treatment, you should not engage in heavy exercise and should keep your head completely covered when in the sun especially if you have a shaved head. After that point, you can handle small periods of sun exposure, but you should still make a habit of using sunscreen and hats when outdoors to avoid burns. In addition to the risk of sunburn, exposure to sun can also cause fading of the pigments used.

HOW TO GET STARTED

We also offer scalp micropigmentation training in Florida for those who would like to learn how to perform the service for their clients.
Treatment options start at $1,200 but the final cost is determined by the total surface area being treated. You might need as many as three or four separate sessions scheduled a few weeks apart to properly layer the color and achieve the density you want. The treatments can last up to eight years, although you may need occasional touch-ups to reduce fading. If your scalp is dry, natural exfoliation and flaking might cause the color to fade more quickly, so you might need more pigment applied after three to four years. Every persons scalp is unique.
